Load flowplayer javascript everywhere option not working with dash

[Solved]

Foliovision › Forums › FV Player › Troubleshooting › Load flowplayer javascript everywhere option not working with dash

  • phabeon8 3 years, 5 months ago

    I am trying to load up a fv player via ajax. My javascript makes an ajax call to my php script and that script loads the player using these commands which were stated in the documentation
    “$args = array();
    $args[‘src’] = $url;
    if( $splash = get_post_meta( $id, ‘thumb’, true ) ) {
    $args[‘splash’] = $splash;
    }
    echo flowplayer_content_handle( $args );”
    I checked the load flowplayer javascript anywhere option. but I am noticing that when I try to dynamically load a video using hls it runs without a problem but if I use mpd I get a “html 5 unsupported video format error”. I am planning on making this my default player for all my websites. I also noticed that if I try to load the video without using ajax the mpd works perfectly. can anyone help me with this issue. as I know I am not the only person who has experienced it

    Hello phabeon8,

    please check your page HTML code – you should see //cdn.foliovision.com/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/hls.min.js is loading and you should see //cdn.foliovision.com/wp-content/plugins/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/flowplayer/flowplayer.dashjs.min.js as well.

    As a next step you can run this on the browser console:

    flowplayer.engines.forEach( function(v) {
      console.log( v.engineName )
    });

    It should give you a list like this:

    dash
    hlsjs-lite
    html5
    flash

    If it won’t the the MPEG-DASH engine is somehow not properly loaded and it could explain your issue.

    Also, are you sure you need Ajax here? Based on the code which you posted you should be able to initialize the player with just the use of JavaScript like here: https://foliovision.com/player/advanced/api-programming#js-usage -> 1. Player initialization via JavaScript.

    Thanks,
    Martin

    I will re state what i am doing because i think I might not have given enough detail I am trying to load the player from a javascript file. there will be no video or anything on the page before. but once the user clicks a button my javascript file will then make a call via ajax to my php script and that then activates the code

    “$args = array();
    $args[‘src’] = $url;
    if( $splash = get_post_meta( $id, ‘thumb’, true ) ) {
    $args[‘splash’] = $splash;
    }
    echo flowplayer_content_handle( $args );”

    then after this is echoed to javascript it prepends the html to the page

    and also no dash is coming up just the other 3 things you mentioned

    Hello phabeon8,

    I see, it would not load without FV Player Pro, unless there is a MPEG-DASH video on the page, even if the FV Player JS is set to load everywhere. I prepared a fix for the issue for the next release, please reinstall from https://github.com/foliovision/fv-wordpress-flowplayer/archive/master.zip to get it right now.

    Then you will be able to just call this to have a MPEG-DASH video load on your page (into #content element):

    jQuery('#content').flowplayer({
      playlist: [
        {
          "sources": [
            { src: "https://download.tsi.telecom-paristech.fr/gpac/DASH_CONFORMANCE/TelecomParisTech/mp4-live/mp4-live-mpd-V-NBS.mpd", type: "application/dash+xml" }
          ]
        }
      ]
    })

    But you code will work too and it’s a better option if you want all the FV Player settings to apply. What I provided above is faster though.

    Thanks,
    Martin
